The Emperor Meaning

4 The Emperor Meaning

The Emperor is the foundation of reason representing power, authority and stability. The Emperor reminds us at times it can be paramount to use logic rather than emotion to solve thorny problems. This card additionally represents the positive aspects of fatherhood as well as a stubbornness and rigidity.

Prompt:

Are you living in your power?

Live the Tarot:

Take an inventory of your responsibilities and be honest in your assessment. Is your power in balance with others? Are you under-expressing yourself or over-expressing yourself? Write down one area that could be enhanced by more structure.

Artist’s Notes

For my interpretation I chose an Chinese Emperor in a red and gold robe decorated with the pattern for the flower of life. His hair ornament is a ram with an Egyptian Ankh on its forehead. Behind him is a shower of maple leaves twisting like birds in the sky.

There are a few strands of silver in his hair and beard to represent maturity and experience. Traditionally, the Emperor represents a strong father, a faithful husband, and a capable leader who honors responsibility, strength, structure and authority.

When reversed the Emperor can signal a need to resist authority, a lack of flexibility or an unwavering need to follow the rules even with those rules cease to serve those they are meant to protect.

LOVE: A person with strong traditional feelings towards relationships; excellent marriage material but not very romantic.

MONEY: A traditional approach to building wealth over time is best when this card comes up.

HEALTH: You should follow the traditional path when it comes to health matters.

CAREER: Be a leader or a person who is advancing into a position of responsibility.
